LOS ANGELES, March 19 (UPI) -- A planned spinoff of "Beverly Hills, 90210," much like the '90s TV series, centers on a teen brother-sister pair who move from the Midwest to the posh zip code.

The CW network is planning an updated, as-yet-untitled version of the iconic adolescent soap.

The Hollywood Reporter said the new edition, which is being written by "Veronica Mars" creator Rob Thomas, would be about the Mills family -- which includes teen siblings, a mother who is a former Olympic medalist and a father who is a Beverly Hills High alum who moved after graduation and then returns to his former stomping grounds as an adult.

The trade paper said the cast will include five other characters, four of whom are students at Beverly Hills High.

Although none of the characters seem directly connected to those from the original series, 16-year-old Daphne Silver and her twentysomething brother, Max Silver, share the same last name as original character David Silver, The Hollywood Reporter noted.

Production on the pilot for the show is expected to begin April 3.
