WGA, West spikes its awards show

"There will be no Writers Guild of America, West show until the strike is over," the Los Angeles branch of the guild said in a brief statement.
The WGA said it would announce the winners Feb. 9, the scheduled date of its annual awards show.
The decision was announced after the WGA announced the nominees for its feature film and documentary awards.
"Juno," by Diablo Cody; "Michael Clayton," by Tony Gilroy; "The Savages," by Tamara Jenkins; "Knocked Up," by Judd Apatow; and "Lars and the Real Girl," by Nancy Oliver were nominated for best original screenplay.
The WGA nominees for best adapted screenplay are "No Country for Old Men," by Ethan Coen & Joel Coen, based on the novel by Cormac McCarthy; "There Will Be Blood," by Paul Thomas Anderson, based on the novel, "Oil," by Upton Sinclair; "The Diving Bell and The Butterfly," by Ronald Harwood, based on the book by Jean-Dominique Bauby; "Into the Wild," by Sean Penn, based on the book by Jon Krakauer; and "Zodiac," by James Vanderbilt, based on the book by Robert Graysmith.
