NEW YORK, May 10 (UPI) -- Former President Bill Clinton took his crossword fervor to the next level by writing clues for a grid posted to The New York Times Magazine's Web site.

The magazine published Clinton's hint-giving effort alongside the regularly scheduled Sunday puzzle with an editor's note from Will Shortz saying, "The clues in this puzzle are a little more playful and involve more word play than a typical crossword."

Clinton, a crossword buff who appeared in the movie "Wordplay," showed a flare for clue-writing, New York Magazine said Thursday. Clinton also showed his political inclination. The three-letter answer for "A party I don't attend" -- GOP.
