The restaurant features curved walls, distinctive tile angles, earth toned paint colors and two waterfalls which are meant to a create harmonious atmosphere, The New York Times (NYSE:NYT) reported Sunday.
"We wanted to make the restaurant a little bit more of a destination. It's not so much decor as a theme, our theme being we want this to be a harmonic, peaceful place for people to be," Southern California McDonald's franchisee Bryan Carmack said.
The new take on encouraging sit-in fast food customers has reportedly become a goal of many business owners.
The restaurant also has a McCafe, which sells McDonald's coffee at sophisticated coffee shop prices, the Times reported.
"A lot of things are subliminal. Balance in life, that's what you want," said Brenda Clifford of JBI, a firm that designed several themed McDonald's.
