Virtutech platform to support MUOS testing

SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 8 (UPI) -- Virtutech Inc. has been subcontracted to support the U.S. Navy's Mobile User Objective System program with its Simics testing platform.

California-based Virtutech, a virtualized software developer, was awarded the contract by General Dynamics C4 Systems to support the ground segment of the Navy's MUOS program. Officials say Virtutech's Simics testing platform is a move to minimize the need to build multimillion-dollar satellite systems test models for the MUOS next-generation tactical satellite communications system.

MUOS is an effort to enhance the military ground communications with satellites and existing and future U.S. Department of Defense terrestrial communication networks providing simultaneous voice, video and data communication for soldiers in the field.

Officials say General Dynamics will use the Virtutech's Simics to simulate satellite ground systems hardware to create a testing and debugging tool.

"This implementation solidifies Simics as a critical component in the satellite market for ground systems software development," Michel Genard, Virtutech vice president of marketing, said in a statement.

"It also underscores our strength in large-scale simulation and validates our trusted status to participate in mission critical government projects. We are honored that Virtutech's speed, scalability, model availability and control have positioned us as a leader and successful contributor to significant satellite projects like MUOS."
