Britian seeks tech platform rule changes

LONDON, April 21 (UPI) -- Britain's Office of Communications said current technical platform services regulations are inadequate.

The existing regulations "do not provide sufficient clarity or certainty for broadcasters. In the absence of transparent guidelines on technical platform services charging, it is difficult for customers to plan for the charges to be incurred for the broadcast of their program or services on the (satellite) BSkyB platform. This is likely to be particularly acute for new providers or new services," Ofcom said.

The office said it will thus be seeking changes and will be holding consultations with the parties involved until May 22.
