NEW ORLEANS, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- A fire reported early Thursday at an oil production platform is out with no indications so far of pollution in the Gulf of Mexico, the U.S. Coast Guard said.
An oil spill response crew was deployed to a site about 80 miles off the coast of Louisiana following a report of a fire on a platform. The New Orleans sector of the U.S. Coast Guard said the fire was reported at around 2:30 a.m. local time and confirmed to the public by 5:30 a.m.
