LOS ANGELES, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Alison Brie is headed for Jenji Kohan's new Netflix series, Glow.

The 33-year-old actress confirmed she'll star on the new comedy in a tweet Monday after news outlets reported her casting earlier in the day.

Glow is inspired by the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling -- a real-life 1980s female wrestling league. Brie will play "a struggling actress" who is "thrust into the glitter and spandex world of women's wrestling," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Kohan, who is known for creating Weeds and Orange is the New Black, will co-executive produce the series with Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch. Nurse Jackie actress Betty Gilpin will reportedly co-star.

Brie is known for playing Trudy Campbell on Mad Men and presently voices Diane Nguyen on the animated Netflix series BoJack Horseman. She will also appear in the movie The Masterpiece with James Franco.
