NEW YORK, July 1 (UPI) -- Danielle Brooks says an airline agent was surprised to see her first class ticket.

The 26-year-old actress vented about the experience in a tweet Thursday after an agent said she was "lucky" to be flying in the luxury cabin.

"I hate when gate agents look at me like I've never flown first class and say 'You're in first class, lucky you!" really tho," she wrote, adding an annoyed emoji.

Brooks' post met strong reaction on Twitter, with some suggesting the star's race was a factor in the incident. Many took offense at the actress' treatment, while others said her complaint was indicative of her privilege.

"Ew casual racism??? Go off girl," one social media user tweeted.

"Have some humility. not everyone knows who you are. #FirstClassProblems," ETCanada producer Graeme O'Neil wrote.

Entertainment Tonight reported Brooks was traveling from New York to Los Angeles, where she appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that evening. The actress, who plays Taystee on Orange is the New Black, told Kimmel the series changed her life.

"In the course of 13 hours ... my life [changed]," she said of the Netflix show's premiere in 2013. "All of a sudden everybody's like, 'That's that girl! That's that girl!'"

Orange is the New Black was renewed for a fifth, sixth and seventh season in February.
