John Krasinski to play Jack Ryan in new Amazon series

LOS ANGELES, April 30 (UPI) -- The Office veteran John Krasinski is set to play iconic CIA operative Jack Ryan in a small-screen series based on Tom Clancy's books.

Deadline was the first to report the Paramount TV project, which is expected to stream on Amazon after it is officially green-lit.

The show is a collaboration by writer-producer Carlton Cuse, writer Graham Roland, Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes and Skydance Media.

Krasinski and Bay recently worked together on the political thriller 13 Hours.

Previous actors who played the role of Jack Ryan include Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine.
