Bart Simpson to die in Halloween episode of 'The Simpsons'

AUSTIN, Texas, June 8 (UPI) -- The Simpsons producer Al Jean says the recurring villain Sideshow Bob -- voiced by Kelsey Grammer -- will actually kill Bart on the animated show's upcoming Halloween episode.

Entertainment Weekly reported Jean revealed the plot point at a panel discussion about the series at the ATX Festival in Austin over the weekend.

Jean likened Sideshow Bob's obsession with killing the 10-year-old boy to the Coyote chasing the Road Runner in the classic Looney Tunes cartoons.

"I hated frustration comedy, so we'll scratch that itch," Jean said.

EW said Bart -- voiced by Nancy Cartwright -- will return to the show after the Halloween episode.
