LOS ANGELES, March 2 (UPI) -- British actor Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes character shaved off his bushy beard on Sunday's episode of The Walking Dead.

"Cutting all my beard off, on-camera, that was one of the trickiest days of my acting life," Lincoln explained in a pre-taped interview that aired on the analysis program Talking Dead.

"They put two cameras on me, gave me some scissors and rolled the tape," the actor explained. "I was so kind of transfixed by who this guy was underneath this and it was such an extraordinary thing to see, and the weirdest thing is that [co-star] Norman [Reedus] said, 'I want your beard.' So, I had to collect all the stuff in a bag and then Norman wanted... For some reason only known to Norman Reedus, he wanted my beard and I think it is still in his refrigerator back in Atlanta."

"We gave him the hardest time I think of anybody ever at work," co-star Alanna Masterson said about Lincoln in a live interview on Talking Dead. "He came in for lunch the first day he had no beard, and he sat down and right as he sat down, we all got up and went to a different table. He's like, 'Come on, guys!' And then we were like being like, 'Hey, Love Actually.'"
