LOS ANGELES, Nov. 13 (UPI) -- Actress Kathryn Hahn is to co-star with Steve Coogan in the half-hour comedy pilot Happyish, which will shoot in New York next month, Showtime announced Thursday.

The show is described as "a comedic, soul-searching examination of our pursuit of happiness, a pursuit that might just be the very thing causing our unhappiness in the first place."

Hahn will play Lee, the wife of Coogan's Thom Payne and the mother of their 6-year-old son, Julius.

The actress originally filmed the role for the Happyish pilot in 2013 opposite Philip Seymour Hoffman. Hoffman died in February, and the fate of the project was unclear until the cable network recently announced it is moving forward with Coogan playing the male lead.

"Lee is fierce while funny, defiant while vulnerable; no one can pull that off as deftly, subtly and sincerely as Kathryn Hahn," Happyish creator, writer and executive producer Shalom Auslander said in a statement. "We're very lucky to have her. We meaning Earth."

Hahn's television credits include Parks and Recreation, Transparent, Girls, Hung, The Newsroom and Crossing Jordan. She has also appeared in the feature films Revolutionary Road, Step Brothers, Afternoon Delight, Bad Words, We're The Millers, Wanderlust, The Holiday, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and the upcoming movies The Visit, She's Funny That Way and Tomorrowland.
