Roseanne Barr to guest on 'Cristela'

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Roseanne Barr will guest star on Cristela.

The 62-year-old actress will portray Trent Culpepper's (Sam McMurray) estranged wife Veronica. The character is described as "a former hippie-turned-lawyer" who still loves Trent despite their contentious relationship.

Cristela debuted in October, and follows Mexican-American law school graduate Cristela (Cristela Alonzo) as balances her unpaid internship at a law firm with the expectations of her family. Maria Canals Barrera co-stars as Cristela's sister Daniela, with Carlos Ponce as Daniela's husband Felix and Terri Hoyos as Cristela's mother Natalia.

Barr is best known for portraying Roseanne Conner on ABC sitcom Roseanne. The actress has since hosted talk show The Roseanne Show, and guest starred on Portlandia and The Office. She was recently tapped to host docuseries Momsters: When Moms Go Bad on Investigation Discovery.

Cristela airs Fridays at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC. Barr's episode is scheduled to broadcast in early January.
