'Modern Family' wins Emmy Award for Best Comedy

Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Jim Parsons won the Emmys for Best Actress and Actor in a Comedy for their respective performances in "Veep" and "The Big Bang Theory."

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Modern Family won the Emmy Award for Best Comedy in Los Angeles Monday night.

Cast member Ty Burrell picked up the prize for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy, while the show's Gail Mancuso scored the trophy for Best Directing in a Comedy.

Allison Janney went home with the Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy statuette for her work in Mom.
