Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder break up after three years

LOS ANGELES, May 9 (UPI) -- Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder, co-stars on the U.S. television series "The Vampire Diaries," have ended their real-life romance, UsMagazine.com said.

The former couple, who play Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore on the show, dated for more than three years.

A source told UsMagazine.com the actors are "consummate professionals" and "will continue to work together and remain best friends, which is where the relationship started."

No reason was given for the split.
