Imperioli lands 'Californication' gig

LOS ANGELES, April 11 (UPI) -- Actor Michael Imperioli is to guest star in the seventh season of the U.S. comedy series "Californication," Showtime announced.

The former star of "The Sopranos," "Life on Mars" and "Detroit 1-8-7" will have a multi-episode arc as Rick Rath, a "successful old-school television producer who will play a key role in Hank's latest venture," the cable network said.

David Duchovny plays Hank.

Production on the seventh season's 12 episodes is to begin later this month for a 2014 premiere.
