LOS ANGELES, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- "Modern Family" actor Ty Burrell is to play an Interpol inspector in a Europe-set sequel to the 2011 movie "The Muppets," The Hollywood Reporter said.

"Inglourious Basterds" villain Christoph Waltz initially had been in talks for the role, but the Oscar-winning actor's busy schedule prevented him from taking it, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.

James Bobin is to helm the movie, which he co-wrote with Nicholas Stoller. It is to begin shooting in London this winter, the report said.
