HOLLYWOOD, July 21 (UPI) -- The creators of Fox's "Fringe" have committed to producing a pilot for a television version of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," The Hollywood Reporter said.

Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are on board to write a script for a modern-day take on the Ichabod Crane legend. The adaptation is tentatively described as a supernatural thriller in which the town's female sheriff attempts to bring peace to a besieged community.

Phillip Iscove, the creator of the concept, is also on board to write the pilot, THR reported Friday.

Kurtzman and Orci will executive produce the show if it's picked up by Fox, alongside Len Wiseman, who will also direct.

Kurtzman and Orci's credits also include "Alias," "Hawaii Five-0" and film "Cowboys & Aliens."
