United Airlines unveils 'Oprah' plane

CHICAGO, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- United Airlines unveiled a Boeing 757 jet dubbed "The Oprah Winfrey Show Farewell Season Plane" at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport.

The iconic chat show recently began its 25th and final season.

The plane honoring the series features "Oprah" logos on its fuselage and tail, and "farewell season" decals on the tray tables inside, The Chicago Sun-Times said.

Passengers also are welcomed aboard by Winfrey via video.

"As Chicago's hometown airline, United is proud to celebrate 'The Oprah Winfrey Show's' farewell season with our customers, employees and 'Oprah' show fans," Mark Bergsrud, senior vice president of marketing for United, said in a statement Thursday. "This unique plane represents the global reach of two great Chicago icons."

"We are delighted to team up with United to bring some of the excitement of 'The Oprah Winfrey Show's' farewell season to their customers," said Sheri Salata, president of Harpo Studios and executive producer of "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

"It is thrilling to see our farewell season commemorated with a plane that will visit cities all over the country," Salata said.
