LOS ANGELES, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- U.S. actor and writer Paul Reiser is close to closing a deal for a pilot order with NBC, the network where his sitcom "Mad About You" ran for seven seasons.

The Hollywood Reporter said Reiser would executive produce and star in the new single-camera comedy based on his real family life.

After "Mad About You" ended in 1999, Reiser has tried twice to return to television, writing comedy pilots for CBS starring Bobby Cannavale and Freddie Prinze Jr., but neither project was picked up, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.
