SANTA MONICA, Calif., Dec. 9 (UPI) -- The Broadcast Film Critics Association says it has tapped U.S. actress and entertainer Kristin Chenoweth to serve as host of its awards ceremony next month.

The 15th annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards gala is slated to take place Jan. 15 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. The ceremony is to air live on VH1.

"We are delighted to have a triple threat such as Kristin Chenoweth, a multiple award-winning star of the stage, film and television, as host for our show," Tom Calderone, president of VH1, said in a statement. "Kristin is hugely talented with broad appeal and will bring a tremendous energy to the live ceremony. Truly anything can happen in a live show, and Kristin thrives in that electric environment."

Nominations for the 15th annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards are to be announced Monday.
