April 28 (UPI) -- Lea Michele says her Glee character was a very "special" role.

The 30-year-old singer and actress reflected on her time as Rachel Berry while discussing her new album, Places, on Friday's episode of Today.

"[People still stop me] to say they love Rachel Berry," she said. "She was so special. That character was so wonderful and that was such an important show, and people still love it and watch it -- I do."

Michele starred as Rachel throughout Glee's six-season run from 2009 to 2015 on Fox. She gave her opinion on the show's worst and best cover songs during an interview Tuesday on Watch What Happens Live.

"I think the worst was the 'What Does the Fox Say?' song," the star opined. "It was, like, an Internet sensation song that we did with, like, puppets. That was definitely my least favorite song we ever did."

"I think the best was probably 'Somebody to Love' or 'Don't Stop Believing,'" she added.

Michele has since starred on the Fox series Scream Queens. She released Places, her first album since her 2014 effort Louder, on Friday, and told Today the record returns to her Broadway roots.

"I've been working on this album for three years," the singer said. "I really took my time before I started recording this record, and I decided to just go back to who I am. I grew up performing on Broadway and singing these big songs, listening to Barbra Streisand."

"We stripped it back, and it's just about my voice," she added. "I'm really happy."
