Sara Bareilles to perform 'In Memoriam' tribute at Sunday's Oscars gala

Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Singer and songwriter Sara Bareilles is to perform during the "In Memoriam" tribute at Sunday's Oscars ceremony.

Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, the event honoring excellence in cinema is to air on ABC.

"Sara's unique artistry will honor those we've lost in our community, including familiar faces and those behind the scenes who have enriched the art of moviemaking," show producers Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd said in a joint statement Thursday.

Following Bareilles' performance, a photo gallery of more than 200 filmmakers, artists and executives -- who have died over the past year -- will be posted on Oscar.com.

Bareilles was recently announced as the new star of Waitress, the Broadway musical for which she also wrote the music and lyrics.
