NEW YORK, July 14 (UPI) -- Demi Lovato is feeling "free" in the wake of her split from Wilmer Valderrama.

The 23-year-old singer opened up about her post-split life on Wednesday's episode of Elvis Duran and the Morning Show.

"I feel really amazing," she said. "I feel really great and I'm growing. My life is just really, really exciting for me because I'm growing. It's new and fresh, and I feel free."

Lovato and Valderrama had been together over six years when they announced their split in June. The singer subsequently told reporters she is keeping busy at the gym, AA meetings and the recording studio.

"[My health and music] are pretty much my life. And I love it," she said last month. "My life now consists of doing things that are bettering, that are going to better myself."

Lovato is also occupied with her Future Now tour, which she and Nick Jonas kicked off June 29. The pair will perform across the U.S. and Canada before bringing the venture to a close Sept. 17 in Inglewood, Calif.

"We toured together before several years ago, so we've done this before, and now we get to do it again and we're both so excited," Lovato said of Jonas on a recent episode of Good Morning America. "We work really well together."

The "Cool for the Summer" singer last released the album Confident in October. It debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
