'The Pinkprint Movie': Nicki Minaj releases breakup-inspired short film

The 16-minute clip chronicles a breakup and is believed to be about Minaj's split from boyfriend Safaree Samuels, aka Scaff Beezy.

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Nicki Minaj released a short film Friday to accompany her third studio album, The Pinkprint, which came out earlier this month.

The 16-minute clip is titled The Pinkprint Movie and it chronicles a breakup. Some believe the story is about the rapper's split from boyfriend Safaree Samuels, aka Scaff Beezy, whom she dated for 12 years.

The movie also features four tracks off of Minaj's new album: "All Things Go," "The Crying Games," "I Lied," and "Grand Piano."

The Pinkprint was released three days ahead of scheduled on Dec. 12 after the album leaked online the day before. The launch of Minaj's anticipated followup to 2012's Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded was pushed back from its original release date of Nov. 24.

The album's lead single "Pills & Potions" was released in May and was followed by "Anaconda" in September.
