LOS ANGELES, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Singer Justin Bieber was detained in his garage during a search of his Los Angeles home Tuesday and a friend was arrested on a drug charge, authorities said.

Bieber, 19, is suspected of throwing eggs at his neighbor's mansion and causing extensive damage and mess to the property last week.

The celebrity news website TMZ reported 11 patrol cars appeared at Bieber's home and executed a search warrant in the vandalism incident.

Deputies looked for other eggs in the house, as well as possible video taken of the alleged prank, TMZ said.

Although Bieber was not arrested, his friend Lil Za was booked for alleged felony cocaine possession after the police sweep, TMZ said.

A Sheriff's Department representative confirmed the rapper's arrest, saying the cocaine was found "in plain view" during the raid. Officials said Bieber was "not connected" to the cocaine, TMZ said.
