NASHVILLE, May 28 (UPI) -- New Zealand-born country music star Keith Urban said Tuesday he will release "Fuse," his first new album in nearly three years, this summer.

His seventh studio CD, which he has been working on for nearly a year, is to go on sale Sept. 10.

"I really wanted to challenge myself musically," Urban said in a statement on his website. "Expand the boundaries of my sound, rhythm and melody, while still remaining true to who I am. Working with various co-producers while making 'Fuse' has been so inspiring and liberating -- and we ain't even done yet!"

The first single from Fuse, "Little Bit of Everything," hit the radio May 13. Urban also performed the song last week on "American Idol" where he serves as a judge.

Urban is to kick off his "Light the Fuse Tour 2013" July 18 in Cincinnati.
