NEW YORK, June 23 (UPI) -- U.S. pop star Katy Perry announced via Twitter that she received 17 stitches to close an injury sustained

in Toronto during the weekend.

The New York Post said Perry performed at the MuchMusic Awards show, then got hurt dancing at a nightclub afterward.

"17 stitches later... Don't make fun of my dance moves tomorrow. That's what got me here in the 1st place! Thanks for the souvenir, Canada)!" Perry tweeted Tuesday without offering details about exactly how she sustained the gash.
