'Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children' tops the North American box office

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is the No. 1 movie in North America, earning $28.5 million in receipts this weekend, BoxOfficeMojo.com announced Sunday.

Coming in at No. 2 is Deepwater Horizon with $20.6 million, followed by The Magnificent Seven at No. 3 with $15.7 million, Storks at No. 4 with $13.8 million and Sully at No. 5 with $8.4 million.

Rounding out the top tier are Masterminds at No. 6 with $6.6 million, Queen of Katwe at No. 7 with $2.6 million, Don't Breathe at No. 8 with $2.4 million, Bridget Jones's Baby at No. 9 with $2.3 million and Snowden at No. 10 with $2 million.
