Dwayne Johnson debuts new 'Moana' poster, teases upcoming trailer

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Dwayne Johnson has taken to social media to release a new poster for his upcoming Disney animated feature, Moana.

"EXCLUSIVE: 1st look at the @DisneyMoana poster! Stay tuned for more," the actor wrote on Twitter Monday.

"THURSDAY I debut the trailer on @GMA! #MOANA," he continued, stating that he will release the new clip on Good Morning America.

The accompanying poster features Johnson's character Maui alongside Princess Moana, voiced by newcomer Auli'i Cravalho, as they stand in the middle of the ocean with giant waves parting off to the sides.

Moana, set for release on Nov. 23, will also feature music from Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.

"From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes "Moana," a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people," reads the official synopsis.

"During her journey, Moana (Cravalho) meets the once-mighty demigod Maui (Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she's always sought: her own identity," it continues.
