LOS ANGELES, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Benicio Del Toro is in negotiations to join Fox's planned Predator revival entitled, The Predator.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Del Toro is being eyed to anchor what will be an ensemble piece directed by The Nice Guys helmer Shane Black.

Fox is said to have been pursuing Del Toro but has been unable --until now-- to land the actor due to his busy schedule which includes Star Wars: Episode VIII and a sequel to 2015's critically acclaimed drama Sicario.

In February, the first official teaser image for The Predator was released featuring a lone, battle-scarred Predator alongside the phrase, "You'll never see him coming."

The title of the film has led fans to speculate that only one Predator will be present in the film as opposed to the trio of technologically advanced hunters that were present in 2010's Predators.

Black starred in the 1987 original alongside star Arnold Schwarzenegger as the ill-fated Rick Hawkins. The filmmaker is also known for writing the screenplays for Lethal Weapon, Last Action Hero, and for co-writing and directing Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Iron Man 3.
