LOS ANGELES, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Jimmy Smits confirmed on The Talk that he will appear in the upcoming Star Wars standalone movie Rogue One, which is due in theaters in December.

The news came as the program's hosts showed a frozen image from the film that seemed to back up buzz that he will reprise his role of Bail Organa.

Smits initially attempted to dodge the question about his possible return Friday, saying: "People got nothing better to do then to look at these little things? There's stuff going on in the world!"

Eventually, he relented.

"Can you say the word 'cameo?' Can you say the words 'small part?'" he teased with a laugh.

Fans can look for Smits when the trailer for Rogue One premieres during Thursday's Olympics coverage.

"See the premiere of the new #RogueOne trailer during Olympic coverage this Thursday," the official Star Wars account tweeted Sunday.

Smits played the part of Galactic Republic politician and Princess Leia's adoptive father in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, the second and third prequels in the Star Wars franchise. Rogue One will feature Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker and Mads Mikkelsen.
