WASHINGTON, May 6 (UPI) -- Images of a drowning surfer flash through Sturgill Simpson's latest music video for "Breakers Roar."

The clip, uploaded Tuesday, sees Simpson sitting alone as scenes of a young surfer sinking to the ocean bottom flicker in and out of frame.

Directed by Matt Mahurin, the video reportedly marks one of Simpson's more somber songs from his chart-topping album, A Sailor's Guide to Earth, according to Rolling Stone.

"So enticing, deep dark seas/It's so easy to drown in the dream," Simpson croons as the surfer sinks deeper down. Soon after, crumbling, heart-shaped rocks begin sinking around him, perhaps symbolizing the hard truth about inevitable pain and loss in life.

Simpson began his world tour Thursday in Austin, Texas, and will travel throughout the United States and Europe.
