'Absolutely Fabulous' trailer shows Edina, Patsy romancing men on luxurious getaway

LONDON, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Fox Searchlight has released the first trailer for its upcoming Absolutely Fabulous film starring Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley.

The teaser follows the two British stars, playing cult favorites Edina and Patsy, as they romance men, drink cocktails and act as if on glamorous vacation on the French Riviera.

The film, written by Saunders and directed by Mandie Fletcher, will see the return of characters from the original BBC series which ran for three years beginning in 1992. Julia Sawalha will revive her role as Saffy Monsoon, Jane Horrocks will again play Bubble, and June Whitfield will return as Mother.

Deadline reported in August of last year the entire cast from the original series has been confirmed to come back to their roles for the big screen.

Production for the anticipated film Absolutely Fabulous began in October and is scheduled for U.K. and U.S. releases July 1.
