'Insurgent' tops the North American box office with $54M

LOS ANGELES, March 22 (UPI) -- The sci-fi adventure Insurgent is the No. 1 film in North America after raking in more than $54 million this weekend, Rentrak announced Sunday.

Coming in at No. 2 is Cinderella with $34.5 million, followed by Run All Night at No. 3 with $5.1 million, The Gunman at No. 4 with $5 million and Kingsman: The Secret Service at No. 5 with $4.6 million.

Rounding out the top tier are Do You Believe? at No. 6 with $4 million, The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel at No. 7 with $3.5 million, Focus at No. 8 with $3.3 million, Chappie at No. 9 with $2.7 million and SpongeBob Squarepants: Sponge Out of Water at No. 10 with $2.4 million.
