LOS ANGELES, Nov. 13 (UPI) -- Canadian television producer and director Michelle MacLaren is being eyed to direct the upcoming Wonder Woman motion picture.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner has been meeting with several female directors for the gig, including Jennifer Kent who helmed the horror film The Babadook and Lesli Linka Glatter, who directs and co-produces Homeland.

MacLaren is believed to be a frontrunner in the race for director even though the studio is reportedly "not married to the idea" of having a woman helm the film. McLaren's reputation as a "muscular director" might be what is keeping her at the top of the list.

MacLaren is best known for directing a few episodes of the HBO series Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead and for serving as executive producer and director in AMC's Emmy winning show, Breaking Bad.

Her directing style has reportedly been compared to Kathryn Bigelow's who won the Oscar for the war thriller The Hurt Locker.

Wonder Woman will star Gal Gadot as the warrior princess of the Amazons and is slated for a 2017 release.
