'Nightcrawler' is No. 1 at the North American box office

"Nightcrawler" earned $10.909 million in receipts, while "Ouija" racked up $10.900 million in ticket sales.

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Jake Gyllenhaal's crime thriller Nightcrawler edged past the horror flick Ouija to secure the top spot at the North American box office this weekend, Rentrak announced Sunday.

Nightcrawler earned $10.909 million in receipts, while Ouija racked up $10.900 million in ticket sales.

Coming in at No. 3 in the United States and Canada was Fury with $9.1 million, followed by Gone Girl at No. 4 with $8.8 million and The Book of Life at No. 5 with $8.3 million.

Rounding out the top tier are John Wick at No. 6 with $8.1 million, St. Vincent at No. 7 with $7.8 million, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day at No. 8 with $6.5 million, The Judge at No. 9 with $3.4 million and Dracula Untold at No. 10 with $2.9 million.
