LOS ANGELES, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- The Board of Governors of Hollywood's Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has voted to present honorary Oscars to screenwriter Jean-Claude Carriere, animation icon Hayao Miyazaki and actress Maureen O'Hara, and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to actor-singer Harry Belafonte. All four prizes will be presented at the academy's 6th annual Governors Awards ceremony Nov. 8 at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center.
"The Governors Awards allow us to reflect upon not the year in film, but the achievements of a lifetime," Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs said in a statement. "We're absolutely thrilled to honor these outstanding members of our global film-making community and look forward to celebrating with them in November."
