Scarlett Johansson is a crazy first-time driver in new 'Lucy' clip

The character's heightened senses and abilities allow her to avoid a crash as she tears through Paris and leaves destruction in her wake.

LOS ANGELES, July 15 (UPI) -- Scarlett Johansson shows her reckless side in a new clip from Lucy.

The 29-year-old actress stars as the title character -- a drug mule who becomes superhuman after the substance implanted inside her accidentally leaks into her system. The drug gives her extraordinary mental and physical powers by purportedly allowing her to use more than the "normal" 10 percent of her brain's capacity, (a brain myth in part perpetuated by its frequent use in film and television).

Lucy drives for the first time in the clip, and her heightened senses and abilities allow her to avoid a crash as she leaves a path of destruction in Paris.

Lucy is directed by Luc Besson (Nikita, The Fifth Element), and co-stars Morgan Freeman, Choi Min-sik and Amr Waked. The movie opens in theaters July 25.
