LOS ANGELES, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Filmmaker Woody Allen is to be presented with this year's Cecil B. De Mille Award at the Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles, organizers said.

The announcement was made Friday by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which bestows the Golden Globes.

"There is no one more worthy of this award than Woody Allen," HFPA President Theo Kingma said in a statement. "His contributions to film-making have been phenomenal and he is an international treasure."

The 77-year-old, Oscar-winning actor-writer-director-producer-composer-musician earned rave reviews earlier this summer for his latest big-screen drama, "Blue Jasmine."
