HOLLYWOOD, May 18 (UPI) -- New Zealand actor Marton Csokas has been tapped to play the villain in "The Equalizer," starring Denzel Washington, The Hollywood Reporter said.
The big-screen adaptation of the television show of the same name will be directed by Antoine Fuqua, who helmed "Training Day," which earned Washington an Oscar.
Washington plays a retired intelligence officer who gets sucked into the world of the Russian mob after helping a prostitute, played by Chloe Moretz, The Hollywood reporter said Friday.
Csokas will play a vicious fixer for the Russian mob.
The film will begin shooting this summer in Boston, the entertainment industry publication reported.
Csokas' previous work included roles in "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" and the "Lord of the Rings" movies. He recently finished "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" and is currently of shooting on "The Amazing Spider-Man 2."
