BELGRADE, Serbia, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Serbian President Boris Tadic has pardoned Zarko Lausevic, an actor sentenced to 13 years in prison for excessive self-defense, officials said.

Lausevic, 51, was convicted of the crime for his role in a 1993 altercation in a Podgorica cafe, during which he fatally shot two men and wounded a third.

The Belgrade-based radio and television broadcaster B92 said Tadic announced his decision to pardon Lausevic Wednesday, meaning the former film star's prison sentence has been suspended and a warrant for his arrest rescinded.

Lausevic has lived in the United States since the late 1990s.
