Mangold to direct 'Wolverine' sequel

LOS ANGELES, June 16 (UPI) -- James Mangold is set to direct "Wolverine 2," an action flick starring his "Kate & Leopold" leading man Hugh Jackman, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Darren Aronofsky was initially attached to direct the latest entry in the "X-Men" movie franchise, but he dropped out after his ballet drama "Black Swan" became a huge hit, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said Thursday.

Set in Japan, "Wolverine 2" is the follow-up to the 2009 blockbuster "Wolverine."

Mangold's other credits include "Girl Interrupted," "Walk the Line" and "Knight & Day."
