NEW YORK, April 11 (UPI) -- HarperCollins Publishers in New York made a new two-book deal with Candace Bushnell, author of "Sex and the City" and "The Carrie Diaries," the company said.

Balzer + Bray, an imprint of HarperCollins Children's Books, published the hit book "The Carrie Diaries" last April. It is to release "Summer and the City," a second novel in the series, April 26. "Summer" will be about columnist Carrie Bradshaw's first summer in Manhattan and reveals the story of how Carrie met Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte, the other characters in the "Sex and the City" book, TV and film franchise.

Bushnell's new pact with HarperCollins will be for two additional books in the young-adult "Diaries" series. Their publication dates have not been announced yet.

"I couldn't be happier that we are continuing this relationship," Alessandra Balzer of Balzer + Bray said in a statement Monday. "Candace has proven herself a blockbuster teen author who knows what girls and women of every age want to read."

"We're thrilled to have acquired a further two books by Candace Bushnell with our U.S. colleagues," said Ann-Janine Murtagh, publisher at HarperCollins Children's Books UK. "The young Carrie Bradshaw has endeared herself to readers everywhere and we can't wait to read more of her new adventures as she grows up with her audience. We look forward to some exceptionally exciting publishing."
