Conrad penning new series of books

NEW YORK, April 7 (UPI) -- HarperCollins Children's Books in New York says it has acquired the world rights to "The Fame Game," a new series of novels by Lauren Conrad.

Best known for starring in the MTV series "The Hills," Conrad is the author of several bestsellers, including the "L.A. Candy" series and "Lauren Conrad Style," a fashion guide.

"Madison Parker made a name for herself as best frenemy of girl-next-door-turned-reality-celeb Jane Roberts in the 'L.A. Candy' books," HarperCollins said in a news release Wednesday. "Now she's ready for her turn in the spotlight and she'll stop at nothing to get it. But with backstabbing friends and family, relentless paparazzi, and tabloid scandals she can't control, Madison is going to have her work cut out for her."

The first book in the three-book series is scheduled to be published in Winter 2012.
