ROME, March 7 (UPI) -- Filmmaker Woody Allen says he will shoot his next movie in Rome this summer but he won't divulge any other details about the project.

"I'm too superstitious to do that at this stage," the Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica Monday quoted Allen as saying. "I'm still at the screenplay stage, and so it would be silly to say more."

The Hollywood Reporter said rumors have long swirled about Allen planning a project in Rome but this is the first time the writer-director has confirmed it.

After decades of making films in New York, Allen in recent years has been shooting movies in Europe -- "Match Point" and "Scoop" were shot in London, "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" in Barcelona" and "Midnight in Paris" in Paris.

"I love these sophisticated cities and it's fantastic to have the possibility to work there," he said in his interview with La Repubblica. "Each time it is for me like a declaration of love for certain places. I try to project my feelings for places that are important to me onto the big screen."
