NEW YORK, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- A representative for "Elling" said the Broadway production of Simon Bent's Norwegian comedy, starring Brendan Fraser and Denis O'Hare, is to close Sunday.

Playbill.com said the contemporary show, which officially opened Nov. 21, will have played 22 previews and nine regular performances by the time the curtain drops on it the last time.

The New York Times reported the play, which received mixed reviews over all, had earned only $145,070 for its eight performances last week at the Ethel Barrymore Theater, with many tickets sold at a sharp discount.

The play co-stars Richard Easton, Jennifer Coolidge and Jeremy Shamos.

The producers described it as "a comedy about a wildly mismatched pair of roommates trying to embrace life, love, friendship, pizza, poetry and women."

Fraser's film credits include "The Mummy," "The Mummy Returns," "Gods & Monsters," "Crash" and "Journey to the Center of the Earth."
