NEW YORK, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- The Friars Club says it plans to roast filmmaker Quentin Tarantino at a ceremony this fall in New York.

Tarantino's frequent collaborator, actor Samuel L. Jackson, is to serve as Roastmaster at the event, scheduled to take place Oct. 1 at The New York Hilton in Manhattan.

Expected to attend the comic skewering are Uma Thurman, Pam Grier, Kathy Griffin, Michael Madsen, Patricia Arquette, Harvey Weinstein, Neve Campbell, Jeff Ross, Eli Roth, Rob Schneider, Sarah Silverman, Rosario Dawson, Michelle Rodriguez, Bo Svenson and others.

Tarantino's films include "Reservoir Dogs," "Jackie Brown" and "Inglourious Basterds."

"Quentin Tarantino will join a small group of entertainers who have been brave enough to sit in the hot-seat and be roasted by their peers. Having seen 'Pulp Fiction' and 'Kill Bill,' I can only pray that he understands that we only roast the ones we love," Friars Club Dean Freddie Roman said in a statement Thursday.

"I'm excited Quentin asked me to be the Roastmaster at his Friars Club Roast. Having known Quentin as long as I have now, there are many stories I've kept tucked away for a moment like this. I'm not so sure he won't regret asking me once the afternoon is over," Jackson added.

Among those who have been roasted in the past by the famous club are Humphrey Bogart, W.C. Fields, Lucille Ball, Sammy Davis, Jr., Johnny Carson, Richard Pryor, Bruce Willis and Whoopi Goldberg.
