May 8 (UPI) -- George Clooney celebrated his 56th birthday with wife Amal Clooney.

The actor, who officially turned 56 on Saturday, rang in the occasion with the 39-year-old human rights lawyer and friends Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford in London.

"[Rande and Cindy] flew to London to surprise George for his birthday over the weekend," a source told People of the couple, who married in 1998.

"Amal set it all up and made it a joint birthday celebration since Rande's birthday was just a couple of weeks ago," the insider added of Gerber, who turned 55 in April.

Gerber, who launched Casamigos tequila with Clooney in 2013, shared a photo Monday from the celebration. He and Clooney posed with their birthday cake, which depicted the pair at their shared house in Mexico.

"Celebrating our Birthdays @casamigos style. Thanks for the cool cake Amal. #houseoffriends," the former model wrote.

Clooney and Amal moved to England in 2016 after buying a home in Sonning following their 2014 wedding. Word broke in February that Amal is pregnant and expecting twins in June.

"Can you believe it? [I'm] even happier [than before]," Clooney told E! News in March. "I didn't know that we'd have kids. I was very happy that were going to get married and then [children] seemed like the next step."
